Miss Universe Pageant 2010


Miss Universe 2010, the 59th Miss Universe pageant will possibly be held in one of these countries Australia, Bolivia, Croatia or Indonesia. Confirmation of the venue will be announced around late February or early March.Stefanía Fernández fromVenezuela, Miss Universe 2009, will crown her successor at the end of this event. More than 80 countries and territories will compete for the title and the pageant will broadcast live on NBC and Telemundo. 2010 is the final year Miss Universe Pageant live on NBC. A new broadcasting station will be announced in 2011.


As of February 8, 2010, 26 delegates have been selected.



Jurema Ferraz, a 26 year old beauty from Namibe was crowned Miss Angola 2010 held on December 10. Jurema stands 5'11" tall and will represent Angola at Miss Universe 2010 Beauty Pageant.

1st run-up to the title of Miss Angola 2010 was the 20 year old Evanilde "Ivanita" Jorge. She will compete representing her country at the
Miss World 2010 contest in Vietnam.

Finishing the the 2nd run-up place is Helena Jacinto.














A positive thinker, Priscilla is interested in tennis and the beach. Priscilla measures 5 feet and 11 inches high and is a student at University of Aruba.











Cilou Annys is a Belgian beauty pageant contestant from Brugeswho won Miss Belgium 2010 on Sunday 1th january 2010. Cilou Annys, the 80th Miss Belgium, accepted the crown from Zeynep Sever, Miss Belgium 2009. The 18 year old brunette studies interpreting and translation (French and Spanish) at the "Hogeschool Gent" in Ghent. She is also Miss West Flanders.

She will compete in Miss Universe 2010 and Miss World 2010 in Vietnam






A student of Industrial Engineering, Claudia participated in the national finals as Miss Chuquisaca. The 5 feet 8 inches beauty was 18 years of age when she won the Miss Bolivia crown.






Twenty one year old Josephina Nunez was crowned Miss BVI at 1:10am this morning at the Multi Purpose Complex.

Miss Nunez who had the crowd on her side from the time she entered the stage, also copped five other prizes.

Josephina Nunez, 21, Mauritza Benjamin, 24, Enya Douglas, 19, Jasmine Perez, 20, Jenifer France, 27, and 20 year old Laurell Harrigan were the contestants for this year’s pageant.

Jasmine Perez captured the first runner spot while second runner up went to Enya Douglas.

The contestants were judged on introduction/platform speech, swimwear, cultural dress, talent, evening wear, and question and answer segment among others.

Miss Congeniality went to Jenifer France, Miss Photogenic - Enya Douglas, Miss Popularity - Josephina Nunez, Miss Poised - Josephina Nunez, Intellect - Jasmine Perez, Cultural Dress - Josephina Nunez, Best Talent - Josephina Nunez and Best Evening Wear - Josephina Nunez.

Contestants were asked one question - You have been asked to assist with a public awareness campaign to promote the concept going green. What messages would you include your campaign?

The new queen in her answer said she will encourage both young and old to educate themselves more about the effects of not going green and that she will work with the media to help facilitate such a process. She also noted in her well and fluent answer that “we need to change the way we incinerate our garbage, we need to go green.”

Following the pageant, Miss BVI 2009 will be inducted into ambassadorship to represent the Territory at local, regional and international events.

Last year’s queen Ms. Maquita Richards took her last walk as queen and in her farewell speech pointed out that it was a challenging, but worthy year for her. She thanked everyone that kept her ‘sane’ throughout the year. “Although I was faced with many challenging times, tonight I focus on the positives…Being your queen would be an experience I will always remember.”

At the show which was flawless, there were several performances by WAGAN, MBJ from New Life Baptiste Choir, Monet and Roger among others. There was also a dance by past queens.

The show which was sophisticated and powerful and indeed showcased the contestants’ competitive skills, beauty, talent and intellect and was hosted by Rachel Price and Trefor Grant.

Meanwhile, there were some issues with certain sections of the crowd who laughed at some of the contestants who merely stuttered while giving their answers to the question segment.

The Miss BVI Committee which was chaired by Mrs. Alicia Green and co-chaired by Ms. Lynette Harrigan aims to promote positive development and self-esteem in the young women of the BVI ages 17-27 by empowering them to expand their horizons. Prior to the pageant, contestants took part in a series of workshops, rehearsals, cultural/enrichment events, community services, as well as a personal interview reception.



Natalia Navarro Galvis (born August 12, 1987) is a beauty pageant titleholder who, representing Bolívar Department, was crowned Miss Colombia 2009 in Cartagena. She obtained a score of 9.8 in evening gown and 9.9 in the swimsuit competition.

Navarro, a student of Finances at Florida International University inMiami, USA, speaks fluent English. She will represent Colombia inMiss Universe 2010 contest to be held in the summer of 2010.






















19 year old Safira de Wit from Willemstad won the title of Miss Curacao Universe 2010 Beauty Pageant and was crowned by Miss Curacao Universe 2009, Ashanta Mafalda Macauly. She stands 5'11" tall with the vital statistics of 90-60-90. Safira will represent her country at the Miss Universe 2010 contest next year.
